Animated Upgrade Project
This is a project that I completed in my Animated Asset Development class. We were tasked with creating a item that had five iterations, all upgrading from the one previous. The goal was to create an item that could be put into a video game as something the player could use and upgrade throughout game play. I made a wizards familiar, a crystal frog that assists with the creation of potions. With each upgrade, the player would find specific crystals to put in the bottle with the frog to assist with whatever potion the player wants. This would allow the player to be able to have as much freedom as possible to create the type of potions that support their game play.
The Tadpole
Concept: The first in the series, the player character would find the tadpole in the wild and put it in it’s first jar. It is unable to create potions yet until it grows a little larger.

The Baby
Concept: This is where the player can start adding crystals and building the type of potions they would like to have with them in game. The frog is slowly gaining more and more magical abilities.

The First Potion
Concept: Both the player and the frog have gained enough experience to start creating potions. The crystals are channeled through the frog and into the liquid.
Digital canvas size: same as above.
These two parts have the still images as placeholders while I fix formatting issues with the animated gifs.
The Intermediate Potion
Concept: The potions are gaining strength and are mush easier to recreate when they run out.
Digital canvas size: same as above.
The Advanced Potion
Concept: The final stage of the potion creation. Both the player and the frog are at their highest strength and can create very powerful potions together.
Digital canvas size: same as above.
Each was drawn in Procreate, refined in Photoshop, and animated in After Effects.
